The McLaren MP4-12C

With the Ferrari 458 Italia being one of the most idolized cars in the industry, McLaren have laid down the gauntlet with their offering of the MP4-12C.  With more refined looks and clinical design than the Italia, it doesn’t look as brash as it’s competitor but packs an equally devastating punch.  Just a snip at around £945+VAT to experience the car this summer.

The 458 Italia was a very popular hire car last year with drivers instantly forgetting about the hire charge once their foot had touched the accelerator pedal.  The same will be true of the McLaren.  If you are familiar with the performance of the F430 or Gallardo, the advances in engineering is instantly recognisable when you get behind the wheel of the McLaren.  It’s just a shame the UK traffic laws have to come into play.

All performance stats aside, it has ‘doors which open upwards’.  It’s amazing how clients would want to pay almost double for a Murcielago over a Gallardo in order to arrive at a venue and exit the car with this door system.  Maybe it has been a childhood dream after watching The Cannonball Run?  Who knows?, but an amazing influencing factor which may prove to top the 458 rental demand from last year.

In terms of supplier offerings, there are currently two MP4-12Cs for hire with colour options of either red or orange.  Depending on your budget, 24 hour mid-week hires start at £1,050+VAT for 24 hours, with weekend rates (Friday to Monday) coming in at £3,200+VAT for 72 hours with a 300 mile allowance.  Visit our website for more pictures, performance data and hire details.

If you have some spare cash lying around, the question is would you take the 458 or MP4-12C?  Decisions, decisions…
